Autometer tach not working

Okay my autometer tach quit working, I have done some checking and everything seems to be fine, no loose connections, breaks in wires, and the little thingy on thealtenator is still there. Just wondering if anybody else has had this happen to them, and maybe if the little sensor on the tach went bad?

Thanks
Chris

I know that little sensor is pretty picky about where it sits. I had to move it around for a while until I got a decent signal. Make sure it is tight, and maybe try to move it around a little. I assume it still lights up and such, just doesn't read anything?

I have had to move the sensor a time or two cause the signal got jumpy but, I tried that this time and nothing, it lights up on the dash lights so I know it has good ground and it also does that little jump that it does when you turn the key on before you start the truck, that's why I am kind of leaning towards the sensor being bad or the wiring to the sensor.

yeah, that most likely is the problem. Check that circuit again, and if you know anyone else who has a tach like yours, see if their sensor works with your tach. Good luck
