auto to getrag question

i've got a line on a getrag complete with everything to swap except the tail shaft and trans mount (and driveshafts)

it says its from a D 250, so if i'm gonna swap it into my w250 lack of a tail shaft is a sorta moot point.

my questions are: where might i be able to find a 4x4 tail shaft?

does the NP205 thats attached to my auto swap over to a getrag?

Stick Only is in Sun Valley; about a mile from them is a shop where I bought a rebuilt Getrag for my 91. Perhaps either shop could help.

the NP205 from an auto has a 23 spline input shaft, whereas a getrag (or nv4500 for that matter) is fitted with a 29 spline output shaft thus requiring your NP205 to have the same spline count, 29. The coupler connects the two together. So, you could get a shaft and have the bearing housing machined to receive the wider shaft, or find a used NP205 from a stickshift truck.

check with off-roaders' websites for spare parts: the NP205 is fairly popular, but there might be people not needing that tailshaft or tranny mount for their application.

Also, I can't remember for sure, but when you get the trans mount, see if you can get the NP205 bracket with it: the positioning of the mounting holes is different than the auto (doublecheck on the FSM)
