Atf in a nv4500?
I went to the dodge dealer yesterday to get the overpriced oil for my NV4500. The parts guy said that Ma Chrysler was phasing that oil out and is recommending using ATF. They had one quart left so he just gave it to me.
Anybody know anything about this? It would be a lot cheaper but I sure don't want to put ATF in my transmission.

They are now saying we all have been over paying for the correct fluid for decades and could have been using ATF all along....It sounds pretty fishy to me.

The whole reason we have had to use the special fluid was due to the kevlar, or special synthetic coatings on the syncros, doubt ATF is going to cut it but who knows. Would really cheese people off if ATF really does work and as Oiver said we have been paying through the nose for special fluid all these years/
