ASA Intake Questions
ASA Intake Questions
New to the board and just got a 92 D250 Auto with 66,000 miles on it. The truck is 100% stock and is a strippy, no options except the diesel and auto. Looked a long time to find a truck with this few miles. Only problem is I don't think any of the previous owners (two of which died, which explains the low miles, although I think it may be a bad omen) did any maintence to the truck at all. Changed the oil and fuel filter last night (big thank you to the info on the board, she started right up after the fuel filter was changed) and going to do the tranny and coolant flush tomorrow. I also checked the air filter and it was unbelievably dirty, like had not been changed in 10 years dirty. Been looking at some options as I do want to play with the truck a little bit and found the ASA Intake. It looks like a good bolt in set-up and most people who have commented on it on the board have liked it. Couple of questions:
I called them yesterday and today and have gotten no answer. Left a message as well, is this normal? Also sent an e-mail with no response. Want to get the intake in a hurry so I can change my air filter and don't want to waste my money buying a stock one I'll use for a week.
Has anyone had any problems with this? Live in the Seattle, WA area and it gets very wet here in the winter, can water get in the filter?
Which filter do I use? Saw AFE, BHAF and K&N on the guys site.
Sorry for the long winded post, but thank you for any help you can provide.

I had no problem at all with them. I have the ASA filter. I love the intake and it sounds great. By the way the upper left picture is mine on the site.

You can get some dripping through the slot between the fender and hood when it is really wet. Some guys make a simple sheet metal cover. I also had a difficult time trying to order an AFE filter. Come to find out that I knew the guy and he lived in my town but had recently relocated. ( he's an Air Force guy) I ended up making my own and it works well although not quite as pretty as the asa and I have an extra rubber elbow because I used a straight piece of pipe so the asa probably flows a little better. You might have better luck sending the guy a PM I think that he is still around although I haven't seen him in awhile. He goes by SamsRams.
Sam has been extremely busy lately, I'm sure he will get back to you as soon as possible.
I'd recommend the aFe filter, I have had bad luck with K&N on my truck letting dirt by the filter. No personal experience with a BHAF.
P.S. --Sam is a very stand up guy.
