Check out http://www.frybrid.com

Plan on spending 500 plus, plus a tank.

did 10% blend with diesel in summer.... after one year of the truck down and a new injection pump, I've sworn it off. An inline pump can take the abuse better than a rotary. NEVER AGAIN.

Biodiesel is another story though.

I've run up to 50% mixed in with number 2 no problems. You're looking at about 800-1000 in parts if you buy good stuff. I looked at all the manufacturers components out there and bought the best of each. Frybrid is ok, PlantDrive is better. Get oversize solenoids from hydraforce, a heated filter, a Hotfox pickup, and you should be good to go. Most people run into problems when they don't know what they're doing or if they run trashy grease. When properly dewatered and filtered to 5micron or less, it's good stuff. I had a 100gallon tank from TSC in my bed and I'd see almost 2K between fillups. Just change filters when you feel the power drop off. PM me if you need more info. It's not that hard really and the trucks seem to like it better than dinodiesel.

do you want to run wvo for cost efficiency or for the sake of running something better for your truck?

It depends on usage. Figure changing filters every two to three weeks on WVO, the cost of the conversion, the cost (if any) of getting the WVO and processing it. When I did my kit the only cost I had was the conversion. I spent about $1000 to get top of the line components. Operational costs were limited to filters and filling my truck tank with diesel once a month to get to operational temp. It paid for itself within the year but I wasn't driving that far either. Your results may vary.

ZSkibo said what I was getting at. WVO is only truly cost efficient if you can get WVO that is in "good shape" at a decent price or even free because there are so many added side costs when running it. Fuel filters, the kit, and a tank can get pricey. But to each his own. I personally did not like the headache of changing, heating the oil, and starting/shutting down on #2. But then again i live in Indiana where weather changes from 60 one day to below freezing the next. as they say if you dont like the weather stick around. wvo is great if you have the correct scenario but can be a nightmare. not trying to scare you away from it I am just warning you of the costs and headaches that CAN not necessarily WILL result from running wvo

I have been running WVO for at least a year. I have my own breed though. I use a 75 25 mix of used cooking oil from resteraunts and gasoline. I know....GASOLINE!?!?!? Yes I mix per tank so a batch would be 75% oil filtered down to 1 micron and 25% unleaded gasoline from the pump. I spent every cent of $0.00 to convert my truck to use it. I spent about $80.00 on the filtering aparattus that I built in my local Home Depot. The first 2 or 3 tanks required new fuel filters as the junk in the bottom of my tank was getting run through. After that.... The only 2 differences was a tiny bit more smoke (barely noticable) and the fact that I was spending around $0.70 per gallon to keep my truck running like a champ.

BTW... My dad runs it in his 2000 VW Golf TDI also and he had no problems aside from he got a little more smoke increase but he has a VE all the same so it's good to go in my book. Most sceptics would try to point out that it gels at too high a temperature to be used in colder places but me and my dad had no prob running it through a southern Oregon winter and I can assure you it'll freeze your coin purse right off in winter. Right on start up it is evident because when you let off the throttle to shift, the RPM will drop quickly making a smooth shift nearly impossible but when the engine warms up all is good.

There are a number of problems running WVO , its much like anything else , if its done with lots of detail , it will cause issues later , if you make short cuts , it will cause issues sooner .
There are believers in WVO & no amount of facts affect believers .
Just do lots of research on your own to find out , or go with what your told & then find out .
I had a number of studies in my last bookmarks .
I found one left but it would not link here , broken .

I don't know how the laws work in all ya'alls states but here in North Carolina we had a fellow first genner get a $1000.00 ticket for burning waste oil. Essentially not paying taxes on his fuel which is what ya'all are doing. He had his tank dipped and they sent him the ticket. You can read his post on here if you have the time to search for it. It happened earlier in the summer. Bye the way...I am all for burning any thing in these trucks that doesn't cost a whole lot of money. Our diesel just went up to $2.59 from $2.45 here in the Raleigh,NC area. GO FIGURE???
