I ran out of fuel in my 92 cummins, no gas gauge, and lost track while evacuating friends and family yesterday. We have a bit of a volcano problem in Pahoa and Lielani subdivision, it ran out right on my farm. Luckily. But i would like to get it started again, I understand there is a plunger you can work on these things? I haven't had one in years, and am real rusty on diesels now, a bit of a neophyte. won't be soon I think.

There is a lever on the lift pump, usually on the forward side of the lift pump. The lift pump is kind of above the starter down on the LH side of the motor. If it does not feel like it is pumping, or there is no resistance in the lever try hitting the starter to bump the cam over and allow the lever to work properly.
Make sure you leave the key "on" when doing the priming or else the FSS (Fuel shut down solenoid) will be blocking the fuel from priming.
