Loco one, loco one, loco one, Boatnik, OVER! [laugh] I enjoy the heck outta my old Dodge. I'd rather drive it than anything else in the barn. [coffee]
Boatnik, roger, out. :D
Oh, By the way, I'm 57 as of last Friday. [guitar]

vinny 01-03-2006 09:43 PM

ONLY 46 here... :D

I chose to go with the old girl instead of a newer truck...I liked the idea of the Dana 60/70 combo, and the fact that these things are the truck world's equivalent of a brick outhouse. [whistle]

BTW, Happy belated Boatnik.. [guitar]

I'm 58. Thought about getting a new truck about a year ago but then ----- thought NAAAAAAA, all I would do is screw up my warranty. Why pay 40K for a truck and then start bombing the thing. I decided to keep the old one and have fun with it. Look at my signature and you will see I have done just that!! ;) :D

sorry, only 44, have 2 1992s. Im a diesel mechanic. when I get home from work, If I have to open the hood, I want it simple. easy access. I dont work on mine much. Mainly bombing. I just ran 88 MPH in the quarter with my 1 ton dually 2WD with a 6 speed.
still a kid at heart.

I thought you had to be an AARP member or on medicaid to get these registered [laugh] (or maybe to not notice the 'soft' ride)

My dad's 70 and he drives a 93 W250. I loves it. Says he wished he would have bought it new.

Geico266 01-04-2006 09:31 AM

I ordered my "99" in July of "98". I'm 50 this year. Here I thought I should leave it fairly stock cause I'm suppose to be more responsible, then I read all these "geezer gearheads" in this thread and now I'm gonna have to get up "with the Jones's".

Just remember you whippersnappers......... Life begins at 40. That makes me 10! [laugh]

I think my next move is to give Dave Goerend a call. [whistle]

92DIESEL 01-04-2006 12:27 PM

My Dad was 64 (and magor back surgery) when he finally sold the truck to me. It wasn't the ride that made him stop driving it (he ran 45lbs in the tires to calm the ride) it was trying to get in and out of it- he's only 5'9" :D

So his loss is my gain [coffee]

I'll be diving this truck forever (or it completely rots out- then I'll find another body)

do yourself a favor and get a 96-98 5sp... you'll get your NV4500, a lot more power capability, and a much more comfortable truck.

the way 1st gen trucks hold their value, you might be able to get into the "new" truck for not much more than the $2500 you're looking at spending on the NV4500 swap.

PS, the Joneses are fools... everyone knows the P7100 is the pump god himself has on his diesel! [whistle] [laugh] [dummy]

After 50

I'm 56 be 57 in May and don't plan on giving my truck up anytime soon. It starts the first crank just about everytime and I can still work on it when I need to.

I get the bug every now and then to look for something newer but...... 40 - 50K + for a truck completely controlled by computers and sensors that will eventually leave you at the side of the road, no thanks.

For now and sometime to come I will ride down the road in a truck I can work on that has peeling paint and rides a little rough, real rough sometimes but has never failed to get me home with no poblems, knock on wood.

The motor only has 144K on it and is just now getting broken in good. So unless I loose my mind when I tuen 57, I'll stick with this old girl till it gives up.

Jim
