any alison swap guru's?

Local school district is selling some school busses this weekend. They have international 360ci turbo diesels in them IIRC with alison automatics. Around 94 model year.

What should I look at to see if one might be a good parts donor for a swap in case they sell cheap enough?

You better invest in a good neck brace if your gonna get an AT545. We got a couple of those in Chevy Medium duty's behind 366's and they are one of the worst shifting transmissions ever. Better wear your seatbelt too cause when an AT545 shifts you might fall out of the seat! The newer Allison's are sweet, but I'd forget about the older one's. The 1000, 2000, 3000 series are all used behind 5.9 Cummins in other applications, and if you had enough time, money, and technical knowhow it could be made to work. But I'd say you'd be time and $'s ahead just getting the DOdge tranny built by somebody like Goerand's or ATS. You'd have just as good a set up and it'd still be factory bolt together parts.

Get yourself a 47RH that has a lockup converter and put that in there if you want a different transmission. Much easier to install, aftermarket support is much better and it'll fit in there like its supposed to be in there. Not to mention the Transfer case will bolt up the the 47RH. Your on your own with an alison.

Not the first time I heard that. A friend of mine put a factory rebuild in a bus and it wouldn't go into any gear.

It was just a thought since they usually sell cheap.

I'll just stick with the getrag.
