The lift pump can go bad without dumping fuel into the crankcase. where the lever and plunger connect was broken. The lever was moving but wasn't connected to the diaphragm.
Started hearing thunder while I was bolting it in, got it running as it started to sprinkle. Shut it off, and nothing again. Pulled the rubber fuel line off the barb and trimmed it, primed it again, and it's started three or four times now.
I can't remember the last time I layed into it at 50 and had traction issues on gravel.
Might go ahead and pick up a new fuel line. This one is almost as stiff as a plastic tube.

I forgot what it was like to have power. And I am blowing smoke when I get on it at 45-50, but I am also running a bit heavy on the oil in the fuel right now too.
Get lower control arms and balljoints, bearing races, and I'll be ready to take her to town to have the front end rebuilt.
Don't know if I'll get the cam and new bearings put in or get a new front clip (if I can find one) for the amigo from there.
