1992 W250 extended cab, 5 speed, 145,000 miles, bone stock, no power options or trim, newer style seats, new 16.5x12 rims, fresh paint
. Southern truck with no rust, I guess. $6,500 is the price and I cant look at it because its at the other end of the country.
Should I just keep looking or buy this without seeing or hearing it first? I need a new vehicle that will be dependable, everyone is saying to go with a new car or truck, but they are just not the same. Nothing beats a good old first gen. Any thoughts or advice?

thats a fair price. its not a deal but its not bad.
fresh paint and no rust is good,
no options will make it hard to sell in the future but you need to get super detailed pics of underneath it and everywhere around the truck..
e brake cable, brakes, steering, mileage, gears, recent maintence, truck history
try to pry whatever you can out of the guy before/if you buy it.

Under the truck looks normal from what I could see in the picture he sent me. I have all the interior trim stuff from my big truck that could go into it too. Guess I need to find someone with the carfax thing to do a history check for me now.
It looks real nice, but no pwr anything kinda stinks if your planning on a DD.. With a little wiring, anything can be done.. I would never buy anything sight unseen though.. That is just me.. what I would do, buy a one way ticket hoping it is all good... Worst case, you have to fly home!!

Thats the safest way. If it is as good as it looks its worth it. I have bought a few pieces of equipment sight unseen. We usually pay a surveyer to look at it and write a report on it. They stand behind there survey. We got a back hoe and an excavator that way. I would jump on a plane and go. New trucks are great but like you I like these old things. I have had my 05 chevy parked all week so I could drive around in my multi colored rust bucket 93.
That is a beautiful truck, and looks like a pretty good deal. I would say that if it is what you want get it. If it does not work out you should easily be able to sell a rust free truck back in your state for more than what you have into it.
What I usually do (and I do it often as I own a car lot) Offer him 6K cash, and you will fly down, and pick it up, not kick the tires and offer him less. If it is what he says it is, you'll drive it home.
Good luck!
