Another Hard Shifting RAG

I have a hard time getting into 1 & 2 when at a stop. If I let it roll a little, it pops right in! Any suggestions?

Check the bushing on the master cylinder pushrod. It sounds like the clutch is dragging a little.

The MC pushrod bushing? I would never expect that. Seems like it would at the slave or internal? I will check it out.

The best way to fix the bushing is, to do away withe I hole on the clucth rod and buy hime joint, Just like the powerstroke guys use. I have replaced that crapy stock bushing too many times.

Yep. Just cut the eye off and thread the shaft for 3/8-16. That's how mine is. Lets you set your own clutch pedal height, too.

Ok, interesting. I looked under there and I would say there is only 1-2mm of play. How does that affect the disengagement of my clutch. It seems so miniscule compared the total throw of the setup?

Good advice above. I would also suspect a worn pilot bushing. If it's too sloppy to keep the input shaft true, the clutch may not completely disengage. It may also make a groaning or rattly noise during clutch engagement when the truck is initially starting to move.

Sounds like it's not the problem, then. How far up from the floor does the clutch engage?

I would say out of the entire throw, it engages in the last 30-25 percent...So at the top.

That's good, it sounds like it's traveling far enough to disengage the clutch all the way.

What lube are you running in the trans?

This may be way out in left field but last year my truck did about the same thing.

It turned out that one of the two bolts that hold the slave cylinder in had fallen out.

The plastic housing would then bend when the clutch was activated.

I could not spot this until I had someone else press the pedal while I watched what was going on.
