Another A/C Issue
Another A/C Issue
Well, on Sunday afternoon, the A/C quit again. No power to the compressor clutch. I found that there is a 3 wire connection that runs to a metal box mounted by the expansion valve. When I jiggled the that connector, the clutch engaged, then stopped. Then I disconnected and reconnected the wiring, clutch engaged, then the box released it's magic smoke...making the compressor clutch disengage, again.
What is the box for? Where can I get a new one, or can it be bypassed?
I just checked again, the suction line temp probe is attached to it as well.
Got it out of the truck-here is a picture.
Thanks!!

You let the magic smoke out of the cycling switch.
This controls the evaporator icing by cycling the compressor, it can be bypassed and you can control the compressor using a mechanical thermostat.
I have seen the switch for other chrysler applications that should adapt.

Jim, do you have a part numbers for the applications? I found an EVERCO that goes by the evaporator, but do not know how to wire it in.
I disassembled the unit, and the relay is what let go, and it burned the board at the relay.
Thanks!
