Alternator

Howdy yall dont know if this is in the right spot but here it goes. So sent a PM to jim lane since he was the author of the thread. But he has not been online as far as I know. So what I was wondering is that I'm thinking about doing the leece neville alternator upgrade but dont know if i need that much power from my alternator. I only run one battery and dont have any extra power needs at this moment. Would this still be a good upgrade? Or would I be better to do the 140 amp leece neville? Also am I correct in thinking it has a voltage regulator on the back so i wouldn't need the one on the fire wall anymore. And the only 2 wires that go to the alternator are the hot and ground wire? Thanks Dwayne

A bigger alternator isn't going to do anything for you if the battery is being kept up normally with what you have. Jim Lane had big inverters, compressors, etc drawing on his system.

Yes It is actually not charging anymore and i was trying to get away from the external regulator cant seem to get much life out of them. And was looking to go to a one wire application. I looked at the pa performance ones and them seem to be pretty sweet. Anyone have any bad experiences with them?
Thanks for the reply j Martin

Try a MOPAR voltage regulator rather than the junk auto parts store ones that you are lucky if they last 6 months.

I am with j_martin, the stock alternators are plenty for what most people need. I think you might be overthinking and over spending for a basically non issue.

Copy that. Basically ig my main reason for thinking about doing the upgrade was the internally voltage regulator and just having 2 wires yano hot and ground. But either way gonna need a new alternator the one on it has quit charging and would rather replace with something better it's a reman of the Nippon denso. Should i just replace with oem?
