I was curious about that one actually. What could be different between the 2, #888 and #39946?

I would think the chrome 888 would be the closed end like the one's you have, the other one's are the one's I used on my 90 when I converted it to a dually. I used Arrowcraft front adapters on the front and they also have the 39946 nuts on them.

I was floored when I read the spec on your wheels. I believe that torque spec would be for wheels that are steel, and not the aluminum rims, due to the compressive nature of aluminum. Wouldn't the manufacturer of the rim spec out what the installation torque is on those. My yota is 78 ft lbs with the aluminum rims, but 100 with the steelies.

Does anyone know if the Ford alcoas fit our tucks ? If so, is that what you guys are running ? Saw a set on CL and thought that they would be a nice touch to the truck.
yes they do fit.
I have a set on my rig. You have to get some "conversion" lug nuts though. My only complaint is the center caps, they are rattlin, noisy suckers. Oh , and they have a Blue Oval in the middle of them.
Make sure they're from a pre 97 truck, 99 and newer are metric bolt pattern.(Ford didn't make a heavy duty truck in a 98 model year)

Are they aluminum or steel wheels? Have you noticed any of them loosening at all?

Steel wheels on both the 90 & 92, tow alot with the 92 and no issues with it, the 90 is my winter beater it has the flat face rims and the nuts have the swivel washers (39946) and no issues with those either. I think the class 8 trucks get torqued to 450 or 500 with the swivel nuts, I can't see a 5/8 stud on a pickup needing 300 to 350. One of our customers at work (truck dealership) kept over torquing his nuts to 600 or more on a water truck and every other week he was getting towed in with the studs broke off and the duals go flying. We found out he was retorquing the nuts after we would put the truck back together, once he quit doing that he had no more problems. Maybe you could try 175 or 180 and keep an eye on 'em.

As mentioned before, the 300ft. lbs could have something to do with the factory steel dually wheels needing centering.

Should be but I can hardly make out any of the markings on one of the outer rears. Maybe the fronts will be easier to read but there's about 20 years worth of brake dust to remove in order to find it.
