Well here she is sitting in her new home. I have been down here for the past 10 days and will be here 3 or 4 more weeks. We installed the giant doors yesterday, they are 16 feet high and 8 feet wide and weigh about 600 pounds each. We installed them with 4 guys and 1 ladder. It always amazes me how they get things done without heavy equipment. We had more labor problems and lost 3 weeks, so I have stopped trying to guess when it will be done, but hopefully soon...Mark

Well, I have been down here about 5 weeks and we are getting a lot done. There was going to be a delay in the delivery of cement, so I went to get it myself. That my friends is just under 2 tons of cement in the old girl. The good news is that I only had to go about a mile, but still...Mark

Man, these are tough trucks

I was on my way down to Mexico the other day and I really got a test of the toughness of these trucks. If you have ever driven in Mexico, you know that their main speed control method are speed bumps, there are 15 or so between the border and my house. They usually have warning signs starting about 1 km from the bump and 2 or 3 more at intervals until there is one with an arrow right next to the bump. Well, they have been doing major road work down here and the very last thing they do is put the signs back in, after the bump has been replaced. You can probably guess what happened next, I was going about 65 mph when I spotted the bump about 50 feet ahead. I laid on the brakes and hit the bump at about 40 mph.
Well, my truck was loaded to the gills with furniture and all other kinds of stuff, not to mention the hundred gallon fuel tank mounted back there, as well as 2 spares mounted to the rack. I hit it so hard that my head hit the roof and something hit my foot. It turned out to be the four way flasher from the fuse box that got blasted out by the impact.
The truck came out of it without any apparent damage, she steers the same and all seems good, but the rack disconnected from the truck by pulling the bolts through the metal [verymad][verymad][verymad]. I used ratcheting straps to hold it down in order to go the final 150 miles to my place, which is still how it is. Some of the stuff I had got broken too. I think I'll just leave it like that until I get home. Sorry about the long post, but I needed to vent...Mark
