air filters/ ASA intake?

I have always run a fleetgaurd air barrel filter (BHAF) in my trucks....but never built a mount for them...just set them where the stock box was....is this aight...or am I being stupid.... ..?

Also...how well does the ASA modified intake work...is it a k&n knock-off or is it a paper filter?

Paper filters don't like water. You get a lot of water dripping off the fender right above the air filter. I would at least make a drip guard if you don't make a BHAF mount - and check your BHAF to make sure it hasn't cracked from getting wet and drying out.

ASA Modifieds Intake

I am running an ASA intake with an AFE filter. In my opinion, it flows better than a BHAF paper element. I noticed better throttle response and the turbo whine is much more noticable. Sam has them available in Satin Chrome, Viper Red and Black Chrome and they come with an AFE filter. I read in another post that AFE flows a tad bit more than the K&N; I don't know its accuracy. Also, the AFE implements the same type of procedure as far as cleaning and re-oiling as the K&N does.

Check out the ASA here http://www.asamodifieds.com/ The first picture in the customer's picture page is mine. Love the setup and it sounds great.

Smile asa intake

I have the asa intake on my truck and just serviced it for the first time,at 15,000 miles I took the intake completely apart to check for any traces of dirt making it past the filter and found that there was no dirt or dust whatsoever.I live in phoenix so it is extremely dusty down here,it does come with an afe filter that does the job very well IMO.unclemarc.

I made this and run a K&N. I also drilled 4" holes in my stock air box for more air. I live in washington the state and it rains alot here never had a problem with my filter getting wet.
