How do I tell if my damper has the crankshaft position sensor?
I 'member removing some wires from a '92 timing gear cover I used on my '90 that had been in a front end collision.
I used the damper off the same '92.
Is there something embedded in the damper that tells you if a pickup would work the way Monty describes in the tech article on aftermarket tachs?

The damper has two notches in it. If you didn't install the sensor from the '92 in your truck, you can buy the sensor kit that Isspro sells, and run it without the magnets glued to the damper -- the sensor will pick up off the notches. That is how I run my tach.
Alec, I wish that I would have seen your post yesterday, I just finished making up a new mounting bracket for my Isspro sensor last night.
The harness to use the four prong plug under the dash did not work.
If I put the magnets on the outside of the dampener (as per instructions) the magnets would interfere with the factory sensor, which I was afraid to monkey with. So I made a bracket to put the Isspro sensor in front of the dampener and mounted the little magnets on the front of the dampener.
Oh well, its done.

Thanks for the quick answers, guys!
Man, am I glad I signed up for this Forum!
I've learned more about these rigs in the last two weeks than I did in the year it took me to convert my Binder to a CTD.
Never even thought about the KDP and I looked right at that pin putting the new timing cover on.
Whahooooo!!!!!!
