Advancing timing question

Front seal was leaking so I tore it all apart replaced it did KDP well while in there got a wild hair to advance the timing one tooth and did that as well. My question is now the keyway on pump shaft and gear do not line up do I just back the motor up till it lines up or do I turn shaft on the pump until it lines up? Thanks in advance!

You can either move the engine or the pump. Depending on which one make sure your turning it in the direcetion of advacement and not retarding till you are a tooth advanced. Keyway has to line up with the gear or you will have a mess when you start it!! . Unless you have a pretty decent amount of fuel (big injectors) or you plan on possibly having to pull the pump away from the head some then i would advise against it.
