Light
My parking brake light come on every once and a while and I found out it was the switch on the parking brake lever that is out of adjustment.

Edwin:
Yes! it probably is relay as you described. If you look really closely you can see little metal bars inside (reeds?). That would make more sense. Thanks. So now what? Where is this pellet fuse? I guess I'll check all the wires again to look for a short. Jim Lane: thanks, but that's not it. The ebrake switch is fine, this is an ABS problem. |
Here's a wiring diagram in 2 parts:

I don't see any pellet fuse in the wiring. Maybe the diagrams will help you figure it out.

I just had a thought: Maybe Im counting the flashes wrong?
I was counting the long flash as the last flash of the series. Perhaps the trouble is code is #6 not 7? Code 6 is "Erratic speed sensor". Is this the sensor on the top of the rear differential? Is there any way to test it, or do you have to just replace it? |
Yes, I believe that is the speed sensor. Make sure the wires and connectors are in good shape and not corroded. I think it's a thing that screws into the diff and senses a slotted wheel next to the ring gear. It's probably just a coil so you'd check it for continuity. OTOH if it's a hall effect sensor, I don't know how you check those. Maybe you could jack up one wheel and slowly turn the diff and look at the voltage on the terminals. I think a hall effect changes resistance with magnetic flux.
