91 Wd250 front shocks

New to this so not sure how to post.
Im having some front brake issues on my truck and it was pointed out that
my shocks may be on the wrong side. They are mounted on the bottom side closets to the brakes , and I was told that they should be on the outside? Does anyone know which is correct.

1991 dodge wd250 4x4 extra cab automatic diesel

Thank you

Bryon
