91.5 and dealer option tach?
Will I find a plug in the dash harness on my 91.5 for the "option" tach? I have looked twice and not seen it, but I thought I would ask here before I tore deeper looking for something that may not have been there until 1992.

More than likely, no. However, it isn't impossible. I know of guys that have had the factory tachs in Non I/C trucks. I don't have a plug on my '91.5.

what does the factory tach harness look like?

It's a white plug, if I remember correctly, with 4 flat prongs all in the same row coming out of it. It's tucked up in the big bundle of cables that's under the dash, I believe to the left side of the steering column.

If you have a Mopar voltage regulator on the firewall and no crank pos sensor you probably won't have a plug. That's the way it is on mine but 91's seem to come both ways because of the "left overs to change overs" that went on back then.
Here is a 92 with the harness connector located bottom center in this picture. It has masking tape around it. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...gbtmcenter.jpg |
Yea i recently looked at a 91.5 with dealer tach and it had the balancer, sensor, wiring, tach that the guy bought many many years ago from mopar.
there was a 89-91.5 tach install kit NOS from mopar on ebay for like $600.. you have to have a different balancer because of the magnet. if you have no CPS then you have the wrong balancer |
