90 steering pump to 93

hey, i swapped my steering pump that was in my 90 and put a 93 steering pump in the truck and got ride of those diaphrams and thought it would solve my really hard steering, whitch it did. now when i depress the brake its normal then i go to press the brake again its really solid, as if i there manual brakes. what could of caused this? not enough vacuum? also my steering pump and gear box is basically boiling out the steering fluid, even with the old pump, and now with the pump from my 93, could the steering gear box be shot?

I think you have two problems. You have a vacuum leak (possibly caused by a bad booster) and you have air in the power steering system. Get the front wheels off the ground, start the engine, and turn the wheel slowly lock to lock several times. That should solve your foaming issue.
