89 ramcharger cummins swap
Figured I'd start a build thread on my up coming build. 89 RC/ 93 6BT/ 518A/ with diffs out of a 91 with 3.54 gears. The RC has 80k on it and was a 1 owner (lil old lady)... seriously LOL.

So couple questions. Most of the parts are being donated from my old rotten 91 that was a manual, I'm going auto as I'm getting old and lazy. This rig is just a DD and wont see much if any towing.
My question is wiring, if I use the 91 engine/ dash harness what wont work? IE overdrive, cruse, AC? Pretty sure I can setup OD on a 2nd gen shift stalk/button? I do have a 93 auto engine bay harness/PCM. Stu |

Very cool...another RC!
I'm assuming the 91 in your sig is the donor? So since it's Non-IC the harness should be without a PCM? So the wiring is a lot more simple. A/C and cruise should work if your donor already has those options, and they current function. |
Thanks peckens. Yes the 91 is the donor I swapped the non I/C motor into the 93 so the 93's motor is goin in the RC. This is going to be a longterm project as I'm going through everything and rebuilding it all.

My RC is a 91, with 318 auto and my donor was a 93 W250 auto. I used the '93 engine harness and plugged it into the RC at the firewall. I didn't have a good diesel PCM so I used the gasser PCM (just to make the speedo work). I had to put a voltage regulator on the firewall, and I don't have the AC working. The grid heater is on a push button on the dash and the OD is switched with a 1970's style headlight dimmer switch on the floor. I looked at both wiring schematics for these two units and everything is pretty much matched up for ignition hot and ignition start. Its been my DD/parts hauler for about 2 years with no issues.
