76 fummins swap, Drove it yesterday

Well Its almost done! I drove it yesterday, runs fairley well, have a few little issues.

1 wierd deal is after I pulled it in the shop, warmed up, not hot, not cold, but had good heater heat, I shut it of, it sat for 5 minutes, and the thing wouldnt start right away, It acted like a flooded gas engine, Cranked probly 10 times and then slowly fired off. This is a 93 VE pump engine. I did have to replace the cam as some *** hat had the valves set WAY tight and the exhaust lobes were almost gone on the cam.

So Like I said it seems to have something funky with the injection pump. Like the fiel shut off solonoid or something is sticking. If it sits for 1 minute it fires right up, if it sets for 45 minutes it fires right up, but let it sit for 5 and it starts funny.

Also have the shifter plate wore out and its sliding out of the gate into no mans land, so I have to order up a new top plate from Zbag.

You guys have any idea on the starting issue?

did you have a history from the donor doing the same, if not smell the oil to see if you sense fuel in it, lift pump, you might want to run a strong fuel system cleaner like lucas total system cleaner, or hot shots secret, nothing like a good drive to remedy storage motors.

I accually pulled the running engine from the 93 dodge. He said it seemed low on power untill it was up in the rpm range. That explained the camshaft issues I found when I pulled it down for gaskets and seals. The valve lash was less than .005 exhaust and .003 on intake. VERY tight. I was wondering if the injection pump isnt going south, It does have a slight seep of fuel, but nothing I coud find. Could have been a loose banjo cause I dont see it anymore. as far as it needing fuel cleaner I can run some through it to see what it does.

No I never did drive the truck, I guess I should have now. The only thing I did was rais the idle from .004 rpm, back up to the proper idle.
