Very NICE!! Im not sure what to say Im most impressed with..........the shop, your oil burning cruiser, the late model dana 60 conversion, your rust free, low humidity environment, crew cab!!..........I could go on and on.......

just so everyone knows there is a cc dually on reno area craigslist for 950 the pics are crappy but if its in that part of the country it may not be too rusty.
this is a nice build dont worry about the negative remarks about the 2nd gen front ends just replace all the u joints and ball joints while the body is off and have it properly lined up it wont wear tires too bad. also put a 3rd gen adjustable trac bar on instead of a original 2nd gen.

 

Looks great I think your going to like the out come .the thing I noticed the most between a 1st and 2nd gen is hooking up a heavy trailer to the hitch ,is that the frames bends (hump up ) behind the cabs on first gens I have always said if I pull my 1990 down that I would box the frame in the center forward to get a more ridged frame like the 2nd gen.

I never considered the lefthand drop, but I debated a long time on converting to a 2nd gen coil set-up on my crew along with some long chevy springs on the back. I am trying to build a daily driver/family truckster as it sounds you too are doing. My wife does not like bouncing around at all. At least not in a truck. Nice job so far and I love the way you have started right in even though you do not have all your questions answered. Reminds me of me. Welcome to dtr.

Beauty of a project. You are flat getting after it. I am jealous of how quick your build is going. Mine will be a 2 year project, due to constraints of money and tools, sigh. Keep up the good work.

I was wondering if it would be worth it... Do you think that just boxing the frame from the long crewcab section forward would be enough? I didn't want to mess with it too much but the thought seriously crossed my mind- maybe I should think twice while it's apart...
