possibly! very novel idea! of course you would need to raise the capacity of the cooling system which what you are saying would do that.

pretty much another small radiator just for the trans heat exchanger, it would be a whole different system and would only cool since the engine wouldn't warm it up. You could run just water... til winter...

Might just have to give it a try sometime when I find the time... I got a few spare coolers that might work

I intend to have my heat exchanger removed to make room for an HT3B. I saw 195 pan temps the other day when towing in 90* weather. I think the coolant heats it up in the summer time. I didn't have my transmission cooler hooked up to power that day. I got it hooked up now, and now I can hear it coming on. It keeps the ATF temp at 165* (pan temp). However, I have not seen how it does when towing yet.

I do intend to make sure I can reverse the process just in case it doesn't work, and then do some kind of relocation, like BC847.

If you look at the size of the coolers in our trucks it's a wonder they cool at all. The best info I have heard was to put the biggest after market cooler up front and get rid of the stock trans cooler. I have the stock cooler under my truck bed and am going to put a larger cooler up front to replace the small stock one.

I took out the stock cooler and put this one in its place. Just cruising around empty it pretty much never gets above 180 in the hot line. Towing it still gets pretty toasty in the hills, but it recovers a hell of a lot faster than with the stock cooler. I do not have the factory aux. cooler.

I had to trim the grill to fit it though, which I wasn't too concerned about as it is fubar anyway.
