5.9 Ford Cummins
Both tags were covered in oil . No markings left on them . Here is a pic of the 1 that had something left on it .
I think I will go with the ford setup . It's in hand . Once I get through the winter & get my crew cab drive able I will rip into the RC . Plus I can buy parts over time making it budget friendly . I will use this to learn for the next one . I've seen a few dodge pumps for sale . Will worry about that after it's roadworthy . If I had a truck & an idea the parts truck would be best way to go . To get the parts I already have I would be looking at over $4k .
Fast is cool , some smoke is cool , but I'm over all that . I can pull out the Hellcat for that . I want a great all around truck that can be driven anywhere at anytime . Pretty much like my crew cab was .
I appreciate ALL the opinions & help I have gotten & will continue to receive on the site from the wealth of knowledge & experience well beyond my own .

Believe me, said thought occurs to me often.
But then yesterday while I was out running errands and had stopped to purchase diesel, a youngster approached me at the fuel pump and asked if it would be okay if he took a few photos of my truck. I told him that would be just fine -- while the Dear Wife sat in the cab rolling her eyes. So I drove home and decided I will put up with the tinkering and repairs for another month or two...
Sorry for the thread hijack.
...and for which parts are no longer available from Mother Mopar.

I get many more complements though. This was my first complaint. Probably a liberal.
Seems the only "stinks" observations I receive are from family members when I'm burning through a tankful of B100 biodiesel. Next time you receive such a comment you should reply that your carbon footprint is less than his...
I just stopped at the Dodge Garage to pick up some parts for a second gen I am working on. A brand new 1 ton, mega cabbed, slush boxed, leather seated, Cummins powered, duallied, thing of wonder was on the show room floor for a sale price of $80000. Yup. My old Dodge in need of tinkering constantly will stay in my driveway. I may not have a back up camera or heated seats, or blind spot alerts, and it may be loud, but I bet it gets better economy and tows the same kind of stuff that new marshmallowed fluff job on the dealer floor does.
And its corollary...
Life's too short for truck payments.

A 12-valve with any simple-yet-strong-enough truck wrapped around it can last a lifetime. That's the payoff for the time spent with tinkering and repairs.

BTW, although I do not have heated seats, my after-market rear-view mirror (Gentex) does contain a compass, outside temperature, backup camera screen, and integral garage door openers. It's possible to drive a First Gen with a few simple luxuries -- and spend a helluva lot less than $80k
