4X4 Auto LE IC Reg Cab, $2000 Worth it?
The "Golden Formula Rule" on determining a donor truck value:
[(D or W250) GASSER truck in you area & in similar condition] + $1000 = Diesel Donor Value.
It's not rocket science. After you pull the engine & transmission there aren't that many diesel specific items of resale value left.

NO, INCLUDING the rears. This is where you get you break even return on your investment. Internet & forum prices on an axle set may be $1k to $1.5K and may eventually be sold to someone desperate to find a set but in reality locally they still sell in the $400-$700 range for the set depending on condition/miles/etc. Remember you still have to remove and store them if you aren't going to use them. Then you still have the carcass of the truck to deal with which brings the same value as a gasser, unless of course you want to sit on it until it rusts away. Full size Dodge trucks from the 80's & 90's have pretty much disappeared locally because the welfare crowd has stepped up to Dakotas or Ford & GM from the 80's, 90's & 00's. This reduces value due to reduced demand. Locally, right now I see 3 late 80's and early 90's trucks running around my part of the world. One is mine, one V8 version belongs to a local potato farmer and is rapidly rusting away, and the third belongs to a former relative that I used to work with. When the gassers hit the wrecking yards they are usually the first to get crushed. Sadly most still are complete trucks when they go through the crusher.
