The 4BT engines do shake a lot more at idle. Just think, loss of two cylinders = less power overlap.

That is a great idea though, buy an old Chevy 6.2 diesel Jimmy or pickup to swap a 4b into. People will pay you to take their Gutless 6.2, rip out the drivetrain and since the diesel vehicles don't require any type of smog checks in California, just swap in a 4bt no prob. or even a 6bt.

Depends on the condition of the 4BT. I've seen rotary pumped ones with 90k miles go for about $3500. I saw a brand spankin new one once with a P pump that went for $10k!

You should be able to get a 4BT for around 2000.00, if you look you can find the whole van. Then you get trans. adapter etc. and scrap to recoup some investment.

Dyno sheet required to believe 400HP. Sorry for doubting you but there is a lot of people out there now that have done the conversion and that kind of HP is rare. Same with the mileage.

talk to garrett shields at puredieselpower.com he knows a guy thats even higher than that, and the same mileage. ill dig that thing up.and also why not so believable when a 6 can put down over 100hp per cylinder, and the 4bt uses the same injection system all the same parts, it was a p-pumpd 4bt, twins, ddp injectors, head studs, orings, maxspool 3,v springs, head porting, 4gsk, laser cuts, afc mods, etc, and we were going to put larger plungers and barrels in but had to buy new turbos to do so.

Register at DoveBid.com. This is the auction house most of the larger companies use to liquidate used equipment. This is where Frito Lay sells their used rigs.

Like I said, RARE. Looks like you got the stuff to get it done though. What transmission and axle gearing are you running to get that mileage?

A vibratory plate is a compacting device that is used in construction to compact the soil, or any finished product like asphalt roads, they range from small to huge. The small ones can have a gas or diesel engine connected through a centrifugal clutch via belt to a vibratory unit, you walk behind them and the engine driven viberator vibrates at high cycle rate packing whatever is beneath it. Because of the centrifugal motion of the plate they can exert thousands or pounds of downward force yet the unit is relative lightweight.

At work we had a unit that was for the skid steer and it had a 4-cylinder diesel engine to power the hydraulics.

There are also units that mount to the top of pilings that vibrates them into the earth without beating them in.

This might be interesting.
