47rh case -46rh guts

I have a 93 w250- 46rh slip-o matic. Got a 47rh case cheap last year and want to minimize downtime. Internet rumor is that some companies are using 47rh cases b/c of the band strengthening ribs on the 47rh case.
After researching this a little, it looks like I can have the 47rh rebuilt as a 47rh and then just swap to a 46rh non-lock up valve body and 46rh non lock up convertor. Unsure about the pump

agree or disagree?

disclaimer- i'm not notching the frame or spending extra money for the adapter to put the 47rh in. Call me crazy, but all this truck does is tow hay wagons and farm equipment at 25 mph.

Can't understand why you would want to go backwards on a 47RH?

I'm with thrashing, you mean you don't want to have to buy the second gen adapter and starter?

If all you are doing is 25 MPH towing, why not go back to the non overdrive torqueflite?

allow me to clarify. 518 case is scored- Have a cheap 47rh case.
Does a 47rh lock up in 2nd gear?

It can with valve body modifications.

47 has a stronger second gear band and case to boot .I have done a few 47rh rebuild's they are pretty simple to do .and finding the starter and second gen adapter have gotten pretty simple .Once done you can mod the valve body to lock in second gear .I Love mine It's Pretty sweet to have second gear lock/up when flying down the road .

You can not put a non lockup converter in a lockup transmission. The input shafts are different as is the reaction shaft inside where the input shaft is and the fluid routing. You can however put most all the guts from the 46RH into the 47RH case. The things to look out for are the rear drum, band, anchors and lever but they may all swap over as well, The valve body is different and can't be interchanged.
