Wink 4200 gov spring

After searching looks as though 'NeedMoPower' is the only gent with a '4200' rpm gov spring yes no? How does one install a experimental spring and not know or keep track of the number? Did anyone else 'research' it anymore to find a part number? Sounded a little fishy to me . Flame suit now on .....

I sat down with with Steve from Treys Fuel Injection in Temple, Tx and we went through bosch manuals on the computer looking for this spring. I'm sorry you didnt take the time to research the part in detail. The even make a 5200 spring for the ve, but according the diagram, it attached to the throttle shaft differently. I was first told about this spring from John Russin about 3 years ago when I called him.

I'll bet the 5200 rpm spring was from an old VW diesel....they use the VE pump as well, and that's their stock max operating rpm....(I once owned an 81 VW diesel).

Jay,
If I remember right the 5200 spring was used in the VW rabbits. Dont hold me to that though...it's been a few years since I was researching all of this.

Watching one of these baby's run up to that RPM would be entertaining to say the least....I would highly recommend practicing the RFI drill until thoroughly proficient though.....

Why dont you just go to a pump shop and research the part number like I did. I know you may find this hard to believe, but the ve is used in many applications other than our trucks and believe it or not they operate at different RPM levels. This is not an "oddball" part...

Bushy, I agree that it would be quite entertaining. I have not got close to running at the RPM and dont plan to personally. I admit, the spring was a bit overkill but what the heck...

It should be RFC-as in run for cover-when the debris starts flying!

I thought I heard that the VE pump wouldn't hold together very long spinning above 3000 rpm. At what rpm do the valves start floating with the stock springs?

Yeah, I have a dyno sheet when I made 352hp, but it doesnt have a torque reading. I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for anyways. I've never ran it over 3200-3300 rpm's and I'm not planning on it. I plan to get on a dyno again after I put in my kta pump parts though.

KTA pump parts are special pump heads made of unobtainum. They are only available on a limited basis and will allow you enough fuel to get to 600hp if you can push the air. They were designed by old smokey and kta-cummins. I have one. Its on display at my house like the hope diamond. Im trying to get enuf air to run it, but mamma needs to make some more money, air aint cheap. You can read about them here
Its the ONLY way youre gonna get the big horses outta the barn.
