360's. How safe in a first gen?

So Normally when i go past my School, Wal-Mart, or the Mall, i whip in there and do some 360's. Several of them at that. How safe is it in a first gen? It sometimes feels stable and other times it feels like its gonna catch and roll. Anyone ever have bad experience doing them?

I dont know if you can catch and roll, but beyond that I dont think you are hurting anything beyond tires and the drivetrain.

Let's see, School (state property), Walmart/Mall (public/private property),

Umm, . . .

Careless & Reckless driving, Presenting as a physical threat to the children/staff (school), and public (Walmart/Mall), Destruction of State and or Private property, most likely exceeding the posted speed limit, Driving the wrong way in a one-way zone (them little arrows in the parking lot). .... . shall we continue?

Further, your profile suggests you are in or work for the Military. I'm sure they would be most pleased with you being caught and charged with doing such. Busted in uniform doing it? Oh my!

Look at all those skid marks, . . .. I smell multiple charges.

That feeling of it might "Catch and Roll Over" may very well have substance to it and we haven't addressed potential damage to the truck itself.

I do some on ice but thats it. ONLY very slick ice actually. I was told by a cop that on the University property they could impound the truck and on public property, such as walmart, they can arrest you...I dont do donuts anymore.

I've done doughnuts in my truck.... I-81 South bound during an ice storm
I don't think I want to do them for fun with the truck, my ATV on the other hand

Lets see...... $ of tires, $ of fuel, $ of traffic citations if you get caught, $ of repairs due to some unexpected and unanticipated breakage, $ insurance premiums if you wreck, $ of hospital bill if something really bad happens, ect........

Not to wise and defiantly not to safe.

If you must do this find a farmer and ask him if you could do 360's in his field after the harvest.

I don't think he's asking for a list of possible charges or anyone's opinion on anything other than will it catch and roll...I doubt he goes to an elementary school at lunch time and starts doing donuts in front of little kids or at walmart when the parking lot is full of cars...there's nothing wrong with doing them as long as you're not being stupid or drunk.

If you have plenty of wheel spin you will be OK. NOW... have enough HP to barely get them smoking is a different story.

I have seen a 2wd ford pickup catch and roll.

If you think its worth the risk.... have at it.

I personally had an 02 that I'd do 3rd gear launch burnouts (trying to emulate Piers) This was leveled with 315 tires on it. No problems This was 440HP and 1100 ft-lbs

Then my 95... had 350HP... 35's. Take some doing but it'd go round-d-round with the best of them.

Haven't gotten the ol' girl to go round-d-round. Most due to the fact that the limited slip is un-limited slippy. One tire fire doesn't work too well doing cookies. BUT. If I ever figure out how to rebuild my limited slip.... I'm up for a few round-d-rounds.

Well the feeling that I'm talking about, when I say it feels like its catching is it sorta does this bumping feeling. I was thinking it was because both wheels in the back are spinning. Other than that this thing would do 360's all day except once it does one or two my tires are spinning so good it just turns into a major burnout.

BTW: Just so people don't think I'm an idiot. I don't go into the middle of a school with people around. Only if no one is there or its closed. At my mall, I do it past 9. Its closed after 9, and no one is there. And in wal-mart, The parking lot is so big i can just pick a place a 100feet away from anyone. And in the town i live in seeing someone burning out or doing a 360 is a normal thing, People will literally walk past glance a little and turn away like its noting new.

True. But I think the University Police were just bored that day.
The year before when it iced over I wasted about half a tank of gas doing 180's, 360's, and a number of other numbers I cant remember cause I was too dizzy along with dozens of other people and their trucks. The cops just sat in the roads watching us.

But yeah, I wouldn't recommend it on dry pavement. Granted there may not be any reported events of a 1st gen rolling but it only takes once for everyone to be sorry.
If it freezes in your area, wait till it ices over.
If you got any wide muddy areas or wide loose calitche (gravel) areas Id do it there. Its probably safer plus it'll probably be far away from public view.

Ok so here is your 1st problem.. you are Trying to justify doing this..

One I guarentee if you do this at any of those locations and a cop sees you he will fine you or arrest you.

and yes this is just as bad as street racing..

and for you to STATE: others do it so why can't I.. that just shows your ignorance..

My suggestion is to STOP doing this unless it is on your OWN PRIVATE land..

Lets put the legality portion aside.
If he wants to do it, its his choice. Im sure he is well aware, especially now, of the legal ramifications of it.

Lets go back to the initial question...

So, is there a substantial risk to rolling a 1st Gen from 180's and 360's and other self-educed out of control driving?

I've seen a 84 corvette roll over on its lid because he was doing donuts and caught a sticky spot and it just grabbed, very funny to see plus no one was hurt. I would say that its not worth the risk of recking your truck, heck if a vette can roll I think a truck can roll.
