35 12.5 17 wheel?

so I have a chance to get a set of tires real cheap, but I will need a set of 17" wheels for them. my question is what kind of back spacing to clear? and I have no want for 3rd gen wheels, I'm gonna end up with stamp steel rock crawlers I think?

I have 315 70R17s on my truck, which are slightly smaller than the 35X12.5s. I am about stock height with my lift shackles and junk springs. The tire hits the joint between the drag link and pitman arm when I turn right. That is the biggest problem that i can see. If you have a 4" lift, however, the drag link may clear, or crossover steering would fix it. I don't know about backspacing but keep in mind the farther from the hub the wheel is, the more fender rub you will get.

Didn't you need so spacers for the 3rd gen wheels on your truck Schamran? I'll mesure my buddies 3rd gen wheels and then compair to my stockers and see what the differance is. Thanks for the info!

ive got 12mm backspacing on my moto metals 9" wide, thats the most they had, looks like could use more, would be for looks reasons only. ive got 35" with a 6" lift and it clears fine. ^^^he's right about rubbing with no lift, when i was stock, i put on 33" with some 10" wide rims and they rubbed the plastic flares
