3200 governor spring vs. clipped stock spring?

I am helping my friend with his 90' dodge. The VE pump got a leak about 2 years ago and didn't run anymore so he took the pump off and the truck has sat for about two years. He bought a reseal kit and had another guy put it in, he said it looked like it was leakin from the head of the pump. I took the pump top off to look things over and clip the governor spring, it looked really diry in there but nothing looked broken, and it all looked okay. I clipped about 1 1/2 coils off the governor spring and bent it so it had a hook again, I put it all back together and we took the collar off the full power screw and turned it up just a bit. We are still workin on gettin it on the truck when we get time, but hopefully it works. I may need some help with that and that will be another thread. But my question is how will this clipped governor spring compare to the 3200 spring? or do ya think i should try and talk him into getting 3200 spring? maybe I'll sell him mine and get a 4200 spring? what do you think?

Clipping and rebending a spring is something I NEVER had any luck with. Round spring steel's surface is like glass. Whenever you bend it you usually end up nicking it. When you nick glass or spring steel it creates a flaw that is subject to failure when working. If you got lucky and didn't nick it it may work.
