3000 gov spring vs 3000 gov spring kit

Ok spring vs kit ... what gives .. I keep seeing price quotes [on thread replys] of 12-20 dollars for this spring but when I go to local parts sources site[piers] they show it as a kit $150cdn /$125usd so.... what is in the "kit" that ups the price also they don't seem to carry old smoky fuel pin where is best price/shop for this thanks Eric

The 'kit' is for the p-pumped trucks. Totally different animal. Piers doesn't list the 1st gen spring, but they do have it, you just have to call and ask. As you've read, it's under 20 bucks. Also, any Bosch distributor will be able to get it for you.

http://www.dynomitediesel.com/ has the power pin. And they are now a site sponsor. :)

Hey "G" thanks for the fast reply. Perhaps I'll sent an e-mail to Piers suggesting they update the goodies that they have for the "oldies but goodies". How about the fuel pin best place to get one are there knock offs ..or should one hold off for smokey's... Truck goes in for tranny mods in a few weeks , and I want to do all engine bombs right after[hx35w12/3000 spring/fuel pin/190s or ddp stage 3 or 4 :o / and slight pump mods] end results "One hellava camper hauler" @ about 275?hp/700?tq

I've got a question... Why does the P-pump need a kit whereas a VE pump doesn't? They never blow KSB solenoids like 1st gen trucks that use the spring so is there something to be had from this kit they use on 2nd gens?

I always figured it was an "inherent difference in engineered operation of the pump".

A question about this question

Why do we blow the ksb? how much is this ksb ? is there a better one than oem? does this happen only after installing non stock gsk

The Begle has it right. :) You need a kit on a 2nd gen becase the governor is a totally different design, where our governor spring looks like the governor spring off a lawn mower  , the 2nd gen springs (there are 8 in a stock pump) look like valve springs.

2nd gens have no KSB. The timing is fixed.

I'm not sure where anybody got the idea there was a rash of problems with the KSB. The KSB system rarely gives any trouble, and when it does have a problem usually it's wiring or switch related. Your KSB will not leave you stranded if it fails, you will just make a lot of whhite smoke on cold starts.

Where do you guys get your 4000GSK? Piers or straight from Bosch?

I know... another topic altogether but I'm curious. Any idea how much a set of 60lb valve springs cost as well?

wannadiesel 03-13-2006 06:44 PM

Bosch can get it for you. I have one but it's not in the pump - yet. I'm concerned about floating the plunger return springs with that one. If you need the part # I can find it.

Should run you less than $150 CAD for the HD valve springs.

My 4200 spring came from Scheid, they had to order it directly from Bosch in Germany, took a few weeks to get it. The spring and part number are in my gallery.

A set of 12 60lb. springs from PDR was $110.
