I believe so I did not deduct the 185k that the truck said it really had though but with that kind of mileage whats 185k

chaikwa 172k..... 9500hr
Michael 185K...... 70080hrs (8 years worth of hours)

chaikwa how did you determine that an hour of idle time wasequivalent to 45 miles of wear on the engine?

chaikwa if you assume while the truck was moving you average 45mph, (172,000/45mph) that would say that you have approx 3825hrs of movement... leaving about 5675hrs of idle.

Micael assuming if was shut off some, but that since then you've run the truck enough to really total 8 years of run time.... (184,000/45mph) leaves you with approx 4089 hours of actual driving and 65991 of idle time.

if there was a study that showed how hours of engine idle wear on your truck (translated into miles) it's really give you a better idea of "actual" engine miles, i think i can say with some confidence though... whatever that number is... it will be high

When my dad bought the truck he had the maintence records and except for monthy oil changes and routine maintance(sp) the truck was never shut down The injection pump was changed @ 179k miles everything else is original. (except belt of course)

So I'm not sure exactly how many miles but I know its a bunch more than whats on the odometer

Yuck. unless i wanted a rotted bondo filled truck, then no way!! Im not trying to black list, but there is a place called Affordable Cars and Trucks in Harrisburg. I do not recommend them to anyone. Ad said a shade under 200,000 miles. The truck had 278,xxx it said clean body. Yeah new paint can make a truck look good, but they need to clean the bubbles off before painting it, and dont say its clean when there is 5 lb of bondo under the rockers and doors, cause im gonna leave enough evidence for the next guy.

Something says im gonna have to travel, except with the price of fuel going sky high...well we will just have to see.
