2nd gen intercooler

Stock IC finally gave up the fight.

I'm looking to replace it with a 2nd gen and would like to buy a new one and get all the boots, pipes and clamps necessary to do the whole project at once.

Can I use a universal cooler off the "bay" or does someone know where I can get a IC that won't cost me $1000.00 like the ones I'm finding online.

I also will need an intake horn that will let me use my grid heaters as I live in chilly old Canada.

Thanks all!!!!!

Go with a Powerstroke Intercooler like most of the Guys are doing, I just bought one and waiting for it to be shipped. Make sure it is from a 99-03 7.3 engine and all Aluminum not the plastic.tank. Check Ebay or a local junkyard. I got mine from a Guy on a powerstroke truck forum.

I have done neither swap but have read that on a nonIC a 2nd gen is easier to install and on a IC model a PS intercooler is better. Not sure of the truth in it just have read it on the forums.
