I think the difference between a 70u and Hd is the carrier bearing, but im more than likely wrong, and the u has 32 spline shafts as the hd has 35. crawl under your truck, there should be a casting on the front driver side of the pumpkin.

Any intercooled 250 will have the big frame, but 89-93 350 1 ton has the large frame no matter what.

350's have 3 inch wide brakes on the rear, its an EASY conversion, we did it ourselves.

Only the dually's had the 5/8 lug studs. Unless it was an option, maybe.

It is my understanding that all diesel 1st gen trucks used the 70U. Some have 32 splines and some have 35spline.

Don't know if the W350 and D350 rear brakes are different but ours only had the 2 1\2?? rear brakes, when we redid the rear brakes we had them turn the drum clear out and we put 3in in. or maybe someone put the 2 1\2 in .....don't know.

My 89 has the shorter 6 in tall frame and my 93 has the taller 8 inch frame. Just a guess on hight but its close.

My 91 250 factory intercooled truck still has the 6 inch frame. My 92 intercooled donor truck has the 7 inch frame.

Your 93, unless switched out, is a 32 spline normal duty D70. Your 89, again, unless switched out, will have a 35 spline D70HD.

Wider brake shoes and heavier standard rear springs - and a weight sticker and fender badges. There is really no other difference, and you could order a W250 with the same springs as the W350.
