Just basic tools, an old fan belt, and a spare fuel filter.

not really diesel specific, more dodge specific: a voltage regulator. I know it costs more, but go OEM. The extra cost is worth it for the reliability, if you want to call it that. I guess it's cheaper than a battery or some fried wiring.

Radiator hoses, thermostat, lift pump, four gallons of motor oil, couple bottles of trans fluid, serpentine belt, short length of radiator hose, spare headlight, fuel additive, hose clamps, small epoxy patching kit, full toolbox, small electrical kit, first aid kit, triangle reflective breakdown warning markers, small fire extinguisher.
Some of this is still in there from trips to the Yukon/Alaska where parts can be a problem.

Guess that depends on what one considers a "road trip"? Most of my road trips were between 2000 -3000 miles. Besides a used belt, fuel filter and tool box, I found a reman alternator and selection of assorted primary wire w/connectors and a test light was handy to have. Those brushes always went bye-bye at the most inconvient time and places. Also, if your traveling in winter weather, a bottle of rubbing alcohol saved my butt more than once when ice formed in the fuel line. It's cheap and it definitely works when poured into the fuel tank.

A spare water pump. I'm only getting about 90,000 miles out of mine.

I carry a spare belt, fuel filter and some ATF. Ignore the VR, yours is in the 'puter. Afew crimp on connectors, and crimpers if you're so inclined. Really don't need a lot.

Be careful with the rubbing alcohol.

Most is 70% alcohol and 30% H2O.

Not enough alcohol to remove its own water content.

I carry the tools required to wrench on things I've fussed with. Anything that I haven't touched seems to never break

Hey G16256................that is exactly what I'm looking for. Based on the 1st genners who've made the long trips, what have been some of the issues people have encountered?

Need to know what I should be stocking the tool box with, other than the usual tool;s ect.......

Thanks for the replies

Belts, water pump. That's the only things that I've had to do while on the road. I get about 90,000 miles on the pumps. I'm a full time RVer and I do a lot of traveling.
