1993 w250 needs a clutch what should i go with
i limped my 93 threw last summer pulling my in bed camper and my 1973 pennyan boat about 8000 lbs and i would think the camper would be about 2000k loaded i did turn the pump up and ground the fuel pin along with a smaller turbo housing. the clutch does hold up to the load under full throttle but the problem is at the stop. taking off 1 the pedal is very high on engagement 2 when slipping it makes a horrible growling noise "doesn't do when unloaded"my my question is what is a good clutch i can go with the truck has 140k on her but was used to plow snow till she was 3 years old. my main concern is that i have heard the south bend clutches dont slip at all and i think that will be very hard on the boat pulling it out of the water not being able to ease it out of the water what do u think
Southbend is a very good choice, possibly the best. The reason you heard they don't/won't slip is the person who told you that probably has one with an extreme high rating. I'm not sure of all the ratings or clutch face compounds used but the extreme clamping forces of the pressure plate has alot to do with it. SouthBend can build you one from stock to full on race/truck pulling. Give them a call and tell them what you want, and they will hook you up. Good luck!
My crewcab clutch has been acting up as well. I'm getting the bad growling noise as well, and my fuel mileage is starting to drop...clutch slipping? Anyway I'm hoping I can limp it along until I do my 4x4 conversion later this year.
But I was looking at the South bend #090 clutch kit...good OEM replacement type set-up, good to around 400hp/700Ftlbs they say.
