Looking add a fuel cell due to finally rebuilding the cradle for the dump bed on the truck and having to move it forward making the factory tank to longer usable, I’m ok with this due to the bed is now 6 inches lower and the truck doesn’t seam so top heavy, when loaded I used a 33 gallon plastic fuel cell I had never used for another project and I used a fuel sump I had taken out of another truck, but I would like to add a fuel sending unit from summit racing does any one know what the ohms are for the factory gauge so I could still use it? I’m not worried about the low fuel light I never let it go below a quarter tank anyways

I don't know how much resistance there is through the gauge, but it seems that there must be a trial and error way to do it. Does the sending unit come with a variable setting? Is it generic or do you have to buy the correct one.The only thing close that I have done is a universal tach for my boat. It had some complicated instructions for determining the setting,but I found trial and error to be the easiest way. Hopefully some electrical guru will chime in...Mark

I found this in a post dated 10/28/2013

Factory specs:
Empty stop = greater than 96.5 ohms.
Empty graduation = 90 ohms +-3
1/2 = 45.3 ohms +-3
Full graduation = 12 ohms +-3
Full stop = less than 8 ohms.

Ok so the factory gauge reads 90 ohms empty and around 8 full?
