Question 1993 cummins power battery trouble ? Alternator trouble?

Hey guys had trouble with my first gen truck yesterday, started it fine drove 5 miles to town shut it off for 10 min went to re start it and started to turn over and stopped and just clicked. My battery was brand new in april. Put jumper cables on and it started right off drove it home and no power to run heater or roll down windows and volt meeter is bottomed out stopped at parents house and left it running as i went in house and in five min in just died. Put jumpers back on and it took over half hour to get enough juice to start again. Battery or alternator or something im missing ?

Thanks for any help

Sounds like its not charging, don't condemn the alternator till you made sure connections are clean and tight, their is no blown fusible links or fuses. I am pretty sure the PCM acts as the voltage regulator for that year of truck , usually if a battery is bad it should stay running if it is charging.

I've seen a few where the battery cables looked just dandy but they were actually all corroded to death. Take a sharp knife and slice the plastic insulation right next to battery lug, peel it back & inspect. If you see green grunge all over everything you may be able to temporarily attach some of those clamp on lugs after cleaning wire, but the cables need to be replaced ASAP. Check both, positive negative.

Also a loose ground is the fault in at least 50% of electrical problems. Check your chassis ground, engine ground strap etc. Clean, shiny, bare metal connections are required.
