1993 3500

Guys I`am looking to sell my 95 2nd gen and get a 93 3500 two wheel drive dually . It has a 5 speed trans and has air and power windows and locks. I see the cummins does not have the same pump as my 95 and I wonder is it as dependable as my p pump.I haul a 10500 grw fiver and want a std trans so that is the only reason fro the change. I do like the fact that the 93 has an engine brake and air conditioning also. I plan on a trip across Canada and think 93 will do the job better than my 95. Anything you guys could tell me about the 93 would be great. Thanks Don T

There isn't much negative with these old trucks. 1st gens use a ve pump which is just as reliable as a p-pump. The VE also starts better, pulls harder down low, gets better mpg than the p-pump. If you get this truck check for roof rot, cracked frame by the steering box, and the usual stuff you check when buying a vehicle. That's all I can think of for the moment, somebody else will chime in soon. BTW, even if its half dead it will make it across Canada no problem as long as the basics work .

Thanks a bunch for the info. the truck has 190000 miles on it but it has a few options that I would love to have.this is the list.
1993 Dodge 3500 Dually, Extended Cab, 2WD, Cummins Diesel Engine, 5 speed std trans, exhaust brake, rear suspension air bags, AC, power seats, windows and locks, am/fm/cd player, sirius radio, Rhino lining in box, 2nd owner, truck originally from California and never driven on salted winter roads. 190,000 original miles. This truck has been well maintained mechanically and has no rust.

He said it was great on fuel and pulls great. I wish I could post a picture and will try in the am.My 2nd gen has 169,013 miles on it now and I hope the 93 has lots of miles in it yet.

Here's it's twin. Rock solid. After 200,000 miles you might have to deal with some normal maintenance items, but with no rust it's got hundreds of thousands of miles left in it.

As in anything mechanical, there are issues to overcome. For instance, I had to teach the best tire shop in town how to install the new tires so they wouldn't hop. (There's a Dodge service bulletin on it.) I'm also in the process of installing several wiring mods both to handle a double tow setup, and deal with known weak points in the factory wiring. (heater and headlights)

But hey, that's what we do.......

Got it in Spooky Anne. Bought the string together. Found it in CL.
That picture is at a rest stop on the way home, about 1500 miles.

Well no 1st gen for me. Seems the owner sold it right from under me. He ask for a cert check and I called to say the bank will have it ready Monday. Seems the buyer saw my post and address and did the dirt on my deal. I will find out who it is!
The search goes on for another 1 st gen dually for me. Hope it don`t take another 3 years to find one worth buying ! later Don

When you see a good one, have cash in hand. At least a grand down to hold it. And buy the truck before you tell anyone else about it. Nose to nose, and written paper work all the way.

When I bought the one pictured above, I send my son to look at it, with cash in hand. When I picked it up, I had the rest of the lettuce with me.

There's buys out there, but they;re getting harder to find. Cash talks.

It may be a blessing in disguise. If the seller did that who know what else he would have done, like hiding problems etc. I know Texas is a long way from NS but we have a bunch of clean rust free trucks. Choices range from fully decked out show trucks to $1200 beaters, all of which are rust free.
