1991 cummins recall
1991 cummins recall
i just got notice in the mail from the local dodge dealer about a recall on my 1991 intercooled truck so i called them to see what was up and the injection pump seems to be the problem they want to look at it and maybe replace it which would be fine with me at 245000 miles its about do.but anyway has anybody else heard bout this?
Thats kind of a kick to all the guys that have spent time and money tweeking and tuning their pumps isn't it? Take out your custom fuel pins and governor springs, and get ready to do it again. What is the safety concern?

Wonder if this is still honored?
*IF* my IP has the "bad" #'s, wonder if pulling the 3200 spring & rotating the diaphragm bad to stock would null anything?
Oops! Forgot about the missing caps from the idle & fuel screws!

I'm amazed they would still be sending out pump recall notices 13 years on. Mine has a recall pump, and I'd wager the majority of those that needed one got it back in 1994-5 right after the TSB came out.
Hmm.....what about people who have already had the pump replaced? Will this recall be honored for the newer replaced pump?
Maybe we could get our existing pumps replaced and put off to the side for later use...thats several hundred we could all save.
If only...its nice to dream.

I'll check the numbers tonight and IF they are in the recalled batch...
I'll arm myself with the TSB and toddle down to the Dodge store...
And I'll be sure to report back here what happens then!

I had heard about this 3 or 4 years ago and got the contact number off the net. Gave them the vin number and the number on the pump. They made all the arrangements with the local dealship. The dealership called me for an appointment to replace the pump. No questions was asked and no cost.
