1990 W350 converter purchase
Hello everyone.
I am about to pull the trigger on a new converter and just thought I would check in here to see if I am doing the right thing.
The truck is a 1990 W350 with 3.07 gears. I also have a Gear Vendors O.D. sitting here for after the converter is replaced.
I am looking at the Spec-Rite billet converter (92%), for I want maximum efficiency for hiway use. The truck is stock, I only tow a light utility trailer to the dump, and I do not try to drag-race the truck (I am trying to save fuel and tires).
Does this sound like a good combo?

Thanks...I will probably order it tomorrow.
My only concern is how will the truck pull away from a dead stop (in moderate acceleration); will it lug the engine down so hard that the turbo can't make boost? Or is the engine torquey enough, and the truck light enough that it will be fine?

Well i rode in a Goerend equipped 1st gen about a week ago, Goerend TC, Built 518, and it was having no trouble pulling away that's for sure. the torque is getting to the wheels so much more it's the opposite of what you think...it'll take less throttle to get going.
