12 cm installed - down pipe
12 cm installed - down pipe
So I managed to get the 12 on today; had to move the exhaust down pipe (Stans 4") back about 1.5".
I took it for a test drive and wow, huge difference, love the quick spool.
I pop my hood when I get back and notice a rubbery burning smell....
; uh oh, down pipe is touching the rubber cover along the firewall.
Any ideas guys, the rubber was H-O-T. Cut and remove section of rubber? What are the rest of you guys doing?

The rubber, or whatever it is on my truck is seriously deformed and bubbled from heat
. I believe it happened when I was pulling the coast range with two quads, one bike, and a camp trailer in tow and I didn't have a pyro yet.
My down pipe isn't any closer now than it was stock, but just to be safe I wrapped it in header wrap. You might give that a try and see if it helps. If you can weld or know someone who can you could also cut about an inch of you down pipe off at the turbo and have the flange re-welded on.
