01 40-20-40 bench seats in a 91?

my mom has a 01 3/4ton 4x4 q/c with real comfortable 40-20-40 split bench seats (cloth). i was wondering if i can bolt the same type of seat in my 91 reg cab 4x4? i think all i need is the seat and the tracks that come with. but if anyone else has done it. or if not i think this would be an awsome mod to the interior..
btw its the in seat seatbelt. ive seen the same seat without the in seat seatbelts.
-thanks

Many would counsel you to check out the first gen buckets - they are reportedly the best choice.

That said, I've done it - had a chance to pick up a nice set of electric seats with center console to replace my broken down stock bench.
My seats are from a '98. Pretty tight fit, not much wiggle-room in any direction, esp. in my reg. cab. I imported the whole deal, electric tracks and all. I'm 6'3" and pushin' 235#, some who stretch out more find them to be cramped.

2nd gen seats are 4 or 6 inches wider (at least the footprint), and sit a bit further front.
It required some cutting, welding on some new angle iron brackets on each end, adding some "stand-off" style threaded rods inboard.
The floorboards are not the same pattern/contour from 1st gen to 2nd..
End result is a nice ride, but I wouldn't start it without a pair of helpful arms to wrestle, push, hold, etc.

the thing is i want 3 seats. b/c it is afterall a reg cab. and im about 5.9' tall and around 150lbs. so i got lots of room lol. and i hate the bench seats that are in it. as long as it fits between the doors. and i dont need the electric seats. is there a better choice that will swap in like say from another manufacturer. i do really like the center consol that is in that style of seat. that was what sold me lol. but i am open to other suggestions.

Crossy,
I was thinking along the same lines, just put in the disclaimer first to save the bucket seat fans the trouble of posting. The 40-20-40 is a nice configuration. The console is great to have, plus it lifts up for a third seat. The storage space is great. Now I'd loke to find an oem looking cup holder to mount to the front of the console.

The 2nd gen seats can be put in, there is no room for error, the only cutting and trimming and welding is on the bottom to adapt the new tracks to the old floor. There will be just a couple inches between the ends of the seats and the doors.

Ditto on the auto trans. The floor shift would not be in the way, at least would not have been on my truck.

For me it well worth the work. My BAD back needed a break from the "killer" bench.

I don't have any pics, but could maybe come up with a couple if you need them.
Good luck,
Bob

Im am also looking to upgrade to a better seat. A friend of mine has bucket seats out of a 89 chevy. im sure that they'd fit but would it be worth the aches and pains?

Ok I need to chime in and ask a question. Do the guys that have the 2nd and 3rd gen seats think that you can put a bench in the back? I don't care about make or model. I was looking at a buddies truck 1991chvery ex cab. I took some measuremetns and it looked very close. But if I were to push the front 2nd gens up, then maybe it will fit? My kids aint to big yet so maybe it will work, plus when they aren't in there I like for my rifles to have a comfortable place to sit, rather then bouncing around on the floor, or my gun rack, I like quick access. LOL

Thats where my gun rack is now, got one on the back and one on the roof. Got room for 5 guns, But the bow doesn't sit to well in either one. At any rate was more wondering for the kids more than anything. Feel bad while were are bouncing down the road and I can hear their little heads spiking off the glass.
