Its a sad day for me.. I have made the decision to sell my truck.. my daily driver.. my baja rig.. my first love.. I already regret it but my hand is forced in this situation.
The truck is mechanically sound.. I rebuilt the engine top to bottom 6 years ago at 245,xxx miles. New mahle pistons, new head, new pretty much everything. all genuine Cummins parts seals and gaskets. I dont tow or hot rod the truck.. its been driven almost daily since the rebuild over a commute of about 8 miles (round trip) the odo reads now 275,xxx but the odo quit last year. last month I replaced the entire two piece drive shaft and ujoints and carrier bearing. two months ago i rebuilt the ENTIRE front end. about 4 years ago I had miramar transmission rebuild the getrag and np205, both feel great. Its issues are the interior: no radio, bad blower motor, no speedo/odo, no a/c, windo/lock switches are fickle but work most of the time, the seats are nice but are fixed in one position. I WILL THROW IN THE CARPET KIT FROM LMC THAT I HAVE! the body: cowl cracks are really bad, body/cab mounts are tired, couple of dents, peeling paint... but NO RUST!!! The electrical system needs some TLC.. bouncing gauges and lights.. a guy repaired a door crack and now the dome light stays on.. i pulled the bulb but if you I dont drive it for a few days the battery gets low anyway. The engine: friggen awesome.. except the FCS is leaking.. I have the seal and speedie sleeve, rad hoses, gates green belt and timing cover seal that will come with the sale. This truck is AWESOME!! It just needs someone with time and tools to bring it to its full potential. I have always enjoyed using my time and tools to make this truck awesome but recently ALL of my tools for not only mechanical work but also carpentry (my trade) were stolen from outside my fathers house. I cant afford the time or the tools right now.. The camper is part of the sale.. It had a brand new 12v fan-tastic vent and sweet custom surf racks on the ceiling and a friggen solid roof rack. will not separate. Asking $12,000 thanks for looking Seva 858 750 8343 Dieselseva@gmail.com |

Slayer would approve of that front axle cover art.
That is coming from a guy who just came in for lunch who has been listening to Slayer's Hell Awaits CD in the shop. Nice custom camper with the roof rack, lift jacks, fishing rod holder and roof mounted vent fan. Great looking rig, and good luck with the sale man! |
some things I did not mention..
Steering is super solid with new front end and the crossover setup from northwest fab, borgeson box and shaft and replaced the pump when I rebuilt the engine. one tie rod is worn but I have a moog replacement for the left and right and for the crossover. I took the dual steering stabilizer kit off after the rebuild because it feels so good without it now.. but ill throw that in as well.. Its riding on 315/75/16 goodyear wrangler duratrac M/T and sweet black wheels.. I forget the brand but theyre solid and look rad. It also will come with TWO fullsize MATCHING spares. 4 of the tires are GOOD 2 are near perfect. Suspension.. I had National Spring build custom 4" lift springs for the front and the rears were built to eliminate the factory blocks and sit level with the camper and load. Rides way better! Has bilstein 5100 shocks but they are over 6 years old so they need to be replaced. [guitar][guitar] |

Thanks Oliver! I hate to sell her but I need $$$ for a down payment on a Sprinter van.. My job has me driving up to extremely nice houses and matching driveways.. My loud leaky smokey truck is not a good first impression for the company I work for..
If you work for a company, why are you using your own vehicle for them ? Convince them how valuable you are, and tell them you need a company truck. If you're that good, you could even start your own company, doing little projects at first, with your old stinky, leaky truck (or fix the leaks at least), and move from there. I would consider a lease as your first work vehicle, this way, you could possibly negotiate the cost of the lease into your pay, essentially having them pay for the truck's lease. No ? You only live once. I waited till I was 43 to start my own biz. Way too late, IMO Hope things work out for you so you can keep your "daily driver". |
None taken! The vehicle also has to be my Beach/surf/fishing/camping rig.. lots of customization involved. So lease is out of the question. The company I work for is famiky owned and operated.. small-ish.. so them paying for it is out of the question. My truck is a great Baja/play truck I just don't think that it's a good presentable work truck. I plan on starting my own business within 5 years.. I'll be 37.

Sorry to hear that you're forced into a sale.
Let me know if I can contribute any small parts you are missing to help move the sale along quicker. Good luck. |
I have quit jobs for less than that! Around here you expect work trucks to look like work trucks, not boutique delivery wagons.
