Will not Start unless in Neutral

This happens every so often and has started to happen more the past few months. The first time it happened to me was in Moab, Ut, last year in May it was not cold at all and it was a nice day. I turned the key over and allowed the glow plugs to warm up, as soon as that little light went off I turned the key over to start it and nothing, so I tried it again and again...hmmmmm. I put the truck in neutral and it fired up. So she started fine the next few times and seemed to go away. The past few months its got bad, but every time I put it neutral it starts right up, so I am think Linkage to my tranny (auto) Any ideas?

Parking on inclines using only park in the transmission can cause the linkage to be pulled out of adjustment. Just a heads up.

I have the same problem with my 2003. I think I know which linkage to adjust, but if you know where I can get a diagram and/or adjustment information for my model year, that would be great.
Thanks

come on now, our beastly engines don't have glow plugs, they have a grid heater [duhhh] j/k. these guys are right about the adjustment, after taking mine offroad for so many years and not using the ebrake mine was way out of adjustment.
