Why are these holes drilled into this 46rh Valve Body Seperater
Anyone know why someone would have drilled the 3 holes in this 46rh Valve Body separator plate? I first thought that the lower hole was for 1-2 up shift but I think the small hole Next to it controls that... any thoughts any ideas how to fix it or if I can get a replacement some where? Are the gas and diesel seperater plates the same? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.die...09adae1ac.jpeg I’m pointing to all 3 holes that someone drilled https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.die...eb5e55991.jpeg Here’s a pic of the under side of the seperater |
I guess you are referring to the hole your index finger is pointing to? In the back-side pic, it looks very uneven for a drilled hole - even allowing for how drilled holes need to be deburred. It looks more like a hole for a check-ball that got pounded by the check-ball. I don't know the 46RH, so I don't know if there could have been a check-ball there - seems like an unusual location for one as it could easily get lost by dropping the valve body. I'm probably wrong on the check-ball theory, so hopefully someone knowledgeable on the 46RH can answer. If there wasn't supposed to be a check-ball there (got an ATSG manual? or FSM?), then my guess would be someone drilled it out for shift-modification.
As far as sourcing a replacement plate - try local/nearest transmission-parts supplier, TransStar, or Sonnax. Dealerships may be a possible source, though that would be my last choice. |
